We like KIDS.

Not just our kids…we like your kids, and your neighbor’s kids, and the kids at the park, and the kids on the plane behind us. Kids make us laugh. We think children are fascinating and high maintenance and wonderful and frustrating and marvelous. If we would have fully understood just how wonderful they were when we were younger & more fertile, we would have had many more. After a lucky strike late in life that produced the world’s most adored third child, we’ve struggled for several years to try and have one more using all kinds of fertility treatments. So far, we’ve been unsuccessful but stay tuned because we aren’t done yet….

We like SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND RATIONAL THINKING.

We believe in the infinite potential of rational, free-thinking humans. We don’t pray — we act.

We like TRAVEL.

Yep. There’s nothing Squares like more than being on the road, whether that’s a weekend trip to San Francisco or a trip to Africa or holiday time spent with family in Texas or a business trip to Beijing. We travel much more than we can afford and sometimes much more than our sanity can manage.

We like GAY PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME RIGHTS AS EVERYONE ELSE.

Including marriage. It’s the civil rights issue of our generation and it needs to happen. End. Of. Story. We put our money and time and energy behind gay rights, we have a company that supports and protects families of all kinds, and we make Seattle’s Pride Parade every year, just because it’s fun.

We like MASS TRANSIT & URBAN DENSITY.

Obviously.

We like THE GAME INDUSTRY.

No doubt about it, the game industry has been good to us. Time and time again, when we take a risk and make a move from something professionally safer to something more risky, the industry and the fans have rewarded us with loyalty and success. We are extremely humbled and grateful for the support. Plus, the people working in the game industry are simply some of the finest on the planet.

We like THE BUSH SCHOOL.

The older Square children go to a private school in Seattle’s Madison Valley neighborhood & it’s the perfect fit for us. Great academics, great teachers and staff, great families, and great kids. Learn more here.

We like PETS.

We love our animals, which include two extremely lazy cats, three guinea pigs, a leopard gecko named Taco, and a medium sized jumping pony who loves alfalfa treats and carrots. The pony doesn’t live in Pioneer Square, just in case you were wondering.

We like APPLE PRODUCTS.

(wipes drool from mouth) Yeah. We’re fanbois/gurls about basically anything they make. Computer? Phone? Tablet? Television? SEARCH ENGINE? We’re there.

We like SMART PEOPLE RUNNING FOR POLITICAL OFFICE.

We like the idea of it, anyway. We’ll let you know if we ever find any.

We like ELECTRONIC BOOKS.

We read voraciously but we don’t read books, magazines, or newspapers in printed form. We can’t handle the waste. We read electronically on a Kindle or a computer. Only the kids have printed books in our house.

We like KEEPING THE MARITAL FLAME ALIVE EVEN AFTER FIFTEEN YEARS OF MARRIAGE.

From time to time, you’ll find that we slip away by ourselves for some special Mommy and Daddy time because when Mommies and Daddies love each other very much…..well, that’s about all I can say about that.

We like HAVING LESS AND DOING MORE.

Every possession is a responsibility so we try to keep the junk to a bare minimum and spend our time and money on experiences (see We Like Travel, above).

We like SEATTLE.

We like the trees, we like the culture, we like the people, we like the business climate, and, yes, we even like the rain.
